One. There is no such thing as the English Version. Its inclusion in any law is a travesty. There is no such thing as the Maori version. There has only ever been one document. Te Tiriti O Waitangi and it is not a version of any other document. It is a direct and proven accurate translation of a text written by Busby and Hobson the night before the first Waitangi meeting. Nor is Te Tiriti O Waitangi anything like a founding document. It is purely a legal device transferring the chiefly authority over to Queen Victoria with Hobson as her representative and securing the personal property rights of all people in the country; not solely for Maori persons as most 'self determination' advocates claim. Te Tiriti O Waitangi cannot be used as the foundation of a legal system let alone a constitution as it is designed solely for one transaction and that was fulfilled 180 years ago.
